Sähköpyörä - Electric Fat trike

I am moving country so it’s time to sell my electric fat trike. It has been ridden ~4500 km. It comes with many accessories, huge battery capacity, and two general modules - one for winter and one for summer.

That said, the trike is fully modular and adjustable. It can be configured in many different ways for different purposes and people sizes and weights. Everything you can see is modular, i.e. components can be taken out if you want to reduce the weight or you can add more modules if you need to carry more gear or batteries or if you need extra suspension for rougher roads.

The bike has pedal assist (with 5 levels of assist) and throttle. You can use both or either one. It also comes with reverse gear so you can drive in reverse which helps to get out of tight spots sometimes.

Besides the throttle and pedal assist, it can also be pedal normally, without assist and without throttle. When you remove the batteries, electronics and other unnecessary weight, it becomes quite light and it can be pedalled like that. Even with all the electronics, racks and extra batteries it can also be pedalled (if for example something goes wrong on the road and you can only pedal it) but it will be quite tough on hills.

WINTER SETUP

- Comes with two separate sets of rear wheels with motors already mounted in them that you can swap. One is 3000 Watt running a 5T winding, which will give you around ~45 kmh top speed. The other wheel is brand new and has a 8000 Watt hub motor on a 3T winding which will give you a whopping ~80 kmh if you want to go a bit wild on the snow and ice. This second wheel can also be used in a summer setup since it can accomodate a narrow tire as well.

- Generally it's quite fun riding in winter with the fat tires because it's so safe. It's nearly impossible to tip over and it's fun to drift when cornering. You also don't get stuck in the slush and snow as much as with a normal bike.

- The tires themselves are 26" x 4'' at the back for the 3000 watt wheel and 21" x 3" for the 8000 watt motor which is on a moto wheel. For the front, the tires are 20" x 4".

SUMMER SETUP

- Like the winter setup, it comes with two separate rear wheels setups with motors already mounted in them that you can use. One is a 3000 watt 4T motor running on a 26" x 2.5" wheel. This motor gives around ~50-55 kmh at top speed on full charge. The other is a 8000 watt motor running on a 21" x 3" moto wheel, with top speed around ~80 kmh on full charge.

- The front tires wheels are 20 " x 2". The summer setup gives you more torque and longer range as the tires can run on very high pressure.

LUGGAGE

This trike can carry a ton of luggage if necessary. The custom made rear rack itself can carry 4 large (60L) panniers and you can also put a bag on the top. It's also possible to strap even more bags on various places around the rack. Furthermore, on the side of the bike there are two platforms that can carry up to 10-15L bags. On long trips, I usually used those platforms to carry two extra batteries but if you don't need the extra batteries and would prefer luggage instead then the platforms are perfect for that. As a gift, I will include bags for those platforms in the purchase. You also get all of the large panniers bags.

BATTERIES

You get 4 batteries, each is 1.8 kWh. So total 7.2 kWh. Each battery is 54.5V. The bike can carry all 4 batteries at the same time.

A switch under the seat control which battery supplies power to the motor. You can easily switch between two batteries at a time.

Normally, only one battery is switched on at a time but you can also connect two batteries in a parallel connection which will boost your voltage to ~110V (up from 54.5V). This will enable you to run a really powerful motor - for example the 8000 Watt motor that's included. You will however need another controller that can run 110V since the ones that come with the bike run only up to 60V. That being said, even if you run the 8000 Watt motor on a 54.5V it can still get up to ~80 kmh since it's on a 3T winding.

You also get 4 chargers. Two of them are 7A and they charge a battery from 0-100% in about 5 hours. Recently I made two variable power chargers that run between 7A-15A so if you're travelling and you need to charge faster sometimes, you can pump up the charger to 15A and that will reduce the charging time to ~2.5 h per battery. But if you dont mind charging slowly (to better preserve the battery cells), you can leave it on a lower amperage.

ACCESSORIES

Lots of accessories are included - 4 chargers (two 7A, and two variable ones that can charge between 7A-15A if you need fast charging), mudguards for summer and winter setups, two controllers, spare tubes, lots of spare connectors, spare wires, and other spare electronic components, 8 luggage bags, (4 big ones and 4 small ones), brake pads, lots of mounts for phone and GPS, flags, spare bearings, handle for mounting accessories or to use for support when sitting/standing, etc.

The bike has front light, rear light, blinkers, mirrors, and a horn.

At the rear, behind the mesh seat, there is a DNM airshock that does a pretty good job at absorbing vibrations and bumps. The front wheels do not have suspension (a separate module with very good front suspension is sold separately by the manufacturer if you need it) but the fat wheels provide decent passive suspension in my opinion. The summer wheels don't provide good passive suspension though so you may consider a front suspension module if you really need it. I've driven on rough roads with the summer wheels and got used to it but for sure suspension will make it a lot more comfortable when running thin wheels.

RANGE

This is a bit of a complex topic. Instead of making any exaggerated claims, I can only share my experience. This summer of 2024, I did a circumnavigation of Finland (4000km) on this bike using the summer setup and the 3000 Watt motor. Riding at average speed of ~30 kmh, I was able to do 320 km before exhausting all 4 batteries. On an average day I did 200 km and I always had 1.5 batteries left. I am quite heavy (120 kg) and I carried a lot of gear. For someone less heavy than me, I think the range will be considerably higher.

But a lot depends on where you ride, how fast you ride, and with which tire setup. Tires have a massive impact on range so on the fat winter tires you would naturally get less range. I estimate per battery, and on a fully loaded summer setup, you can normally get around ~80 km on average when riding at average speed of ~30kmh. But on the winter setup at the same speed but with fat tires you might get only ~50 km of range per battery. That's still quite a lot of range with 4 batteries. I normally get tired faster than the bike does. That will probably be the case also for most people. In other words, I have never felt that range was lacking and have never had battery related anxiety.

I have paid quite a bit for the bike to be built custom and then for extra components and modules. I am giving it away at a rather large discount since I am moving away. It will be nice if someone enthusiastic about bike picks it up. Reasonable comments on the price are acceptable, let me know.

In terms of delivery, I am not sure if something can be arranged via Posti. If you are able to assist in this process, I am willing to ship it anywhere in Finland but it will be at your own expense. Personally I would prefer if you come and pick it up from Rovaniemi. That way you can also see it in person and try it.
