Minus her all-time hit "Fever," this 18-track CD shows why Peggy Lee was well respected as a jazz singer, even if the sex pot image loomed larger. She swings standards like "The Lady Is a Tramp" and the famed TV commercial theme "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair" fairly well, and certainly plays up the sultry siren well as can be during "Black Coffee," "Stormy Weather," and "You Go to My Head." For those not familiar with Lee, or fans who want a larger taste of her popular repertoire, this proves an adequate collection.
