Powerful preamp with networking capability and playback in different rooms

The PR SC5507 is designed for true home theater enthusiasts who want to combine a high-quality processor preamp with a high-end power amplifier. You can expect top-of-the-range video processing with HQV Reon VX and scaling all video sources up to 1080p via HDMI™ 1.3a, plus ISF calibration to fine-tune video parameters. In addition to the latest high-resolution audio formats from DTS and Dolby, the PR-SC5507 features advanced surround features Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz and Audyssey DSX™. The 9.2-channel configuration also offers a range of options for playback in different rooms. The PR-SC5507 also supports a home network that allows you to play internet radio or audio signals from the computer through your main system. A PLL circuit, which is very resistant to clock inaccuracies, gold-plated connectors and XLR inputs as well as preamp outputs testify to the high-quality, audiophile quality of the device.

Video signal processing and scaling up to 1080p by HQV Reon VX chip

HQV Reon-VX is currently the most advanced video processing chip available for home theaters. It provides excellent support for video scaling up to 1080p, filtering aliasing effects and artifacts, and reducing random, mosquito, and block noise. The HQV Reon VX also allows you to expand the colour gamut and display more than one billion shades.

Audio playback from PC and Internet radio over the network with DLNA 1.5 and Windows 7 compatibility

With the PR-SC5507, you can connect directly to the Internet or via your home network to your computer – playing audio streams and Internet radio takes on a whole new dimension. Audio files in MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, FLAC, WAV, Ogg Vorbis, AAC and LPCM formats can be played through your main system with unprecedented performance and fidelity – whether from your computer or the Internet. The PR-SC5507 allows you to play a wide range of Internet radio sources including popular Internet radio services Last.fm* and vTuner. It also offers support for the new Windows 7 operating system from Microsoft, on which the DLNA 1.5 specified streaming function Play To is available. Processing 1080p video and high-resolution surround sound via HDMI 1.3a*

With HDMI version 1.3a and advanced processing capabilities, the PR-SC5507 is a powerful AV control center. With seven HDMI inputs on the back and a convenient front input you can connect up to eight components such as Blu-ray players, game consoles and set-top boxes. The system can receive HD video signals, switch between them and output their signals digitally and losslessly to two different outputs – for example for two separate high-resolution displays such as TV and projector. In the audio, Dolby® TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™ bit after bit provide studio-quality multi-channel sound.

New dimensions for surround sound through Audyssey DSX™ and Dolby® Pro Logic® IIz

The 9.2-channel PR-SC5507 features two new surround sound technologies from Audyssey and Dolby, giving you interesting new possibilities for arranging the speakers in your home theater system. With Audyssey DSX, you can extend a 7.1-channel surround setup by two Front Wide channels. Additional speakers positioned 60° from the centre extend the width of the sound stage and contribute to a more realistic and immersive sound experience. Alternatively, Audyssey DSX can be configured to provide Front High channels. These channels transmit spatial, non-directional sound, adding a new vertical dimension to your movies and games. Dolby Pro Logic IIz offers a similar vertical speaker option that creates a more comprehensive home theater atmosphere in the same way. With Dolby Pro Logic IIz, overhead effects in games and movies are positioned unsurpassed lifelike.

THX® Ultra2 Plus™ certified with THX Loudness Plus™ technology

The ultimate benchmark for home audio performance, THX Ultra2 Plus is specifically designed for rooms where the seat and screen level distance is more than 4 meters and the room volume is at least 85 cubic meters. To be certified for THX Ultra2 Plus, the PR-SC5507 had to meet THX's demanding line standards. THX Loudness Plus is a volume control technology embedded in THX Ultra2 Plus that compensates for the tonal and spatial shifts that occur when volume lowers. The levels of ambient noise and low frequency are automatically adjusted, so you can experience and enjoy the true force and dynamics of movies, music or games, regardless of the volume at which playback occurs.

Custom multi-channel sound with Audyssey and Dolby technology

The PR-SC5507 features MultEQ™ XT, Audyssey's most powerful room acoustics correction technology. MultEQ XT collects frequency and runtime readings at up to eight positions in the listening area to achieve clear, balanced and natural sound. Two other Audyssey technologies, Dynamic EQ™ and Dynamic Volume™, optimize frequency response and dynamic range at all volume levels. Using a similar approach, Dolby® Volume performs independent volume adjustments at different frequencies and channels to produce an audio experience that delivers all the dynamics of the original mix. In addition, this allows you to use the same self-selected playback volume on all input sources.

Correct video playback through ISF video calibration

The PR SC5507 is equipped with industry-leading ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) video calibration. This significantly enhances your home theatre by now being able to adjust brightness, hue, contrast, saturation and gamma levels across all video inputs. This feature turns your AV receiver into a video control center where each video source can be calibrated independently for the connected HD display. In addition, ISF video calibration has been shown to save up to 50% energy on displays and projectors.

VLSC™ and Burr-Brown 192 kHz/32-bit audio DA converters

The PR-SC5507 is equipped with VLSC technology specially developed by Onkyo to reduce signal noise. It also features Burr-Brown 192kHz/32-bit audio DA converters (PCM1795) for all channels.
