Commentary

This cassette deck was created by inheriting the design philosophy of TC-K555ESR.

It uses a midship drive system. The mechanical deck and power supply are placed in the center, and the control system and audio circuit are separately placed on the left and right sides. This realizes a good weight balance in which approximately equal weight is applied to the four legs. In addition, by adopting an inner chassis that divides the inside into three parts, rigidity is further improved and interference between each block is eliminated.

It uses a closed-loop dual capstan system in which the tape is held between two capstan heads and pinch rollers to stabilize the tape running, thereby reducing modulation noise and other advantages.

In addition, the capstan drive employs a direct drive with a 3-phase linear torque BSL motor, and a quartz lock servo to achieve excellent characteristics and accurate tape speed.

It employs a super-bias that greatly increases the bias frequency. By expanding the frequency difference with the music signal, beat noise and intermodulation distortion are reduced, and resolution in the high-frequency range is improved.

Sony's proprietary independently suspended 3-head system provides accurate azimuth accuracy for both recording and reproducing heads, and enables uniform head touch. The head also features an LC-OFC wound laser amorphous head.

The recording amplifier and the playback amplifier are integrated on an independent board and arranged in upper and lower two stages to reduce mutual interference. In addition, the all-stage L/R twin mono DC amplifier configuration prevents interference between channels.

It is equipped with a bias calibration that can finely adjust the bias value for recording within ± 20% and a recording level calibration.
