Not a hardshell not a softshell, it is a classy modern kind of windbreaker, fabric is pretty silent.

Womens cut but not very aggressively so, I think will be pretty okay for a M/S sized male also

For me 180cm/85kg (I wear mens L tops, 34/32 jeans/chinos) I put the item on with no problems and close it, of course it gets a little tight when I start moving around but I can verify the cut is a standard womens modern L size and the lining/design of the item is good for moving about as the lining and outer move and stretch well together.
