Volume One of the »Complete Paint-ings« of Vincent van Gogh offers 381 full colour and 97 monochrome illus-trations. In 300 pages the book follows the artist's work from October 1881 to his stay in Paris. There, from March 1886 to February 1888, he painted over two hundréd pictures.

Volume Two of the »Complete Paint-ings« of Vincent van Gogh has 366 full colour and 60 monochrome illustrations. The 440 pages trace the artist's development from his departure for Arles in February 1888, through the fruitful Saint-Rémy period from June 1889 to May 1890, to his tragic death at Auvers-sur-Oise on 29 July 1890. Within just thirty months, working at fever pitch, van Gogh painted the 463 works that were to make him famous the whole world over.
