In this martial arts actioner, Texas Ran-

ger JJ McQuade is up against the wea-

pons-dealer Rawley Wilkes after Wilkes

kidnaps McQuade's partner and daugh-

ter and takes them to Mexico. McQua-

de's personal vendetta is encouraged by

the government because Wilkes is hi-

jacking U.S. arms shipments for his illicit

weapons deals and the government

wants him stopped... and that is when

the fireworks begin: every weapon known

to human technology is brought into the

picture as McQuade, also armed with his

lethal hands and feet, goes ballistic.

This solid action programmer is - by far -

one of the best entries from Chuck Nor-

ris' early-'80s action-star heyday. Lone

Wolf McQuade's high action quotient

makes it worthwhile for Norris' cult follo-

wing - absolutely.

Being a former Vietnam POW himself,

Colonel James Braddock was the natu-

ral choice to accompany an MIA investi-

gation to Ho Chi Minh City. After turning

up some questionable information, Brad-

dock travels to Thailand to meet an old

buddy who could help him launch a res-

cue mission. Intense action packed war

movie was later followed by two sequals

but the first one is the best of the bunch..

This fast-paced karate action flick stars

Chuck Norris, still riding high on his ka-

rate film successes of the early '80s. In

this story he plays Eddie Cusak, a pain-

fully honest police sergeant who just mis-

ses pulling off a drug bust -- it seems an-

other gang got there before him, wiped

out the competition, and made off with

a fortune in white powder. A bad move -

this means nothing less than all-out war

between the two rival gangs, with the

police caught in the middle. Cusak has

other problems as well, one of his team

killed an innocent bystander during the

raid and he is duty-bound to squelch

any cover-up. With enemies on both si-

des of the law, he then has to take on

the drug cartel with nothing more than

cannons, machine guns, shotguns, pis-

tols, a robot car, and other sundry artille-

ry to help him out.

The Delta Force (1986)

A Chuck Norris action spectacle melds

with the disaster film genre in The Delta

Force. The story is based upon the June,

1985 hijacking of a TWA jet, where pas-

sengers were held at gun-point by terro-

rists in Beirut, Lebanon. The film re-en-

acts various real life incidents from the

crisis - an American serviceman is bea-

ten to death, a terrorist holds a gun to

the pilot's head as the pilot is being

questioned by reporters - while depicting

the tension aboard the plane and the

agony of the passengers, held under the

threat of death by the terrorists. The Del-

ta Force, a crack anti-terrorist comman-

do group, is preparing to rescue the pas-

sengers.
