Folding knife Mcusta AOI Family Crest
Folding knife-clip for banknotes Mcusta Kamon Family Crest made of Japanese steel AUS-8 , steel handle and convenient clip. The Mcusta company has released this series of clip knives as a sign of respect to the famous Japanese clans. On the handle of each model there is a kamon (a kind of family coat of arms in Japan), belonging to a certain family and containing philosophical symbolism. This knife is decorated with a mallow flower - the coat of arms of the Tokugawa clan, symbolizing longevity.
The blade is made of AUS-8 - corrosion-resistant, chromium steel made in Japan. This steel was originally developed as a knife steel and is very popular in the manufacture of blades for serial models of folding and kitchen knives. AUS-8 is traditionally hardened to 56-58 HRC, which indicates its softness on the one hand and resistance to chipping on the other. The steel contains up to a quarter percent of vanadium, which increases wear resistance. Analogue of AUS-8 American steel 440A.
The handle is made of 420J2 steel. This is a simple low-carbon stainless steel, refined by Japanese metallurgists into mild 420 stainless steel. It is quite strong and resistant to corrosion, but has low wear resistance and ability to retain an edge, which makes it not the best choice as a steel for making knives. Mainly used in fishing knives, diving knives. Analogue of Russian steel 40Х13
