Good kind of fabric, COS sometimes has very poor items in the woolmix pants category, I recognize them and stay away from the poor ones...

Mid/lightweight fabric not bulky but not so light at to telegraph the user's shape through too much. Has some texture and it looks good, nothing extreme but looks just right.

For me 180cm/85kg (I wear mens L tops, 34/32 jeans/chinos) I can put them on but I'd need size 52 to wear them. So, item possibly fits up a size and the waist area is accommodating and there's no poor design there.

I have a professional garment steamer. All the items are steam-ironed and inspected. If there is any latent smell/odour on the item, it will be noticed when the item is steamed. If there is odour, the item is destroyed and never put for sale.
